The chain generally is only part of the issue. The design of the tensioner and wear on the guides, particularly the rear guide, all play a part in the premature extension of the tensioner. Unless you've got a good many miles (better than 30k)the verslavy should be all you need.

The bike has 21,000 miles. Everything seems fine, but being that I have the engine cover open, I thought I would do the mod. How long will it take?
