Hi there, looki looki
So this guy had been bugging me about selling him my 97' savage for
a while now but I basically told him: "no, get your own", so he did.
This week he wanted me to help him fix up a 1986er with 37k miles
that he bought off from some mechanic somewhere kinda cheap but
apparently with no papers to speak of; I made no further questions.
Anyway all in all the bike is decent, almost no rust, no bad spills, but
wouldn't run at all, it had a dead battery, a VERY dirty bowl, bad wiring,
no air filter, bad tires, and the most filthy oil filter I've ever seen (see for yourself)
After a full service and good 4 hours of elbow grease the bike is now well
but gets stuck at about 60mph, still it runs amazingly strong, I
think in a few weeks I'll be ready after a couple of new tires and a
good valve job.
Pic 1: "Yoko" inspecting the intrusious look-alike bike (mine is in the back)
1st impressions (darn wiring+bunch of missing screws)
Original 1986 jet black rich thick oil and original filter!
(and yes, I drained it boiling hot after cleaning the carb and a new plug)
At first it did not look so bad
...until closer inspection that is
This is only about 1/4 of the shavings that were stuck in there!
Oh yeah, we stuck a couple of grams there, any prospector would be jealous
Rear (lol)
Front (snap, crackle pop)
And well ...Do You Have a Point Stimpy?! yes. I just realized today
that I really like bringing old bikes back from the dead, the end.
C'ya! (woof!)
