Old advice from Heise site was to jiggle with new and half worn pads. There should be enough space to install one half worn original and one new /2 pad, then another /2 when the original wears compeletely out.

That is a great idea, thanks!  Since the OEM pads need to go bye bye ASAP I will buy both sets and try a non-/2 and a /2 and see if that combination works when the pads are both new.
