Oh that cheng shin will outlast most anything else ...
On my virago 1100 the same rear size as the savage, I managed 10K miles on the current cheng shin and it may have another 2500 I can squeeze out ...
On a savage, 15K easy, 20 K probable, 25K possible.
I have some small rules when buying cheng shin ...
Cheng shin rear tires almost all of them get their grip from tread pattern, not tire warming up and sticking. So I try to run the tire that has the most aggressive tread on the sides. Marquis was the model that fits that perfectly.
The front I really really avoid marquis - its hard as a rock and its easy to lock up. I run a hi-max front. That is the metzeler copy. Hi max is OK for the rear, but front, never run marquis. My maxim X is now on dunlop front, hi max rear.
Kenda and some others I could try in the future, but for a cruiser, nothing like a chengshin marquis rear and i-max front.
Cool.
