Back in the day, I had a  1977 Yamaha XS750D triple.  It "featured" three sets of ignition points and coils.

Well, I got a wild hair up my azz and replaced all three OEM coils with big car coils.

It ran fine.  My only comment is that the bigger coils were a drain on the charging system and my excess charging capacity (to run accessories) took a nose-dive.

I reinstalled the OEM coils before I sold the bike.
