Does anyone know if a backrest and pillions off a 2001 will fit an 06 S40?

Yes it will, but you also need the side rails that are made to hold the sissy bar.

I took the backrest pad off of mine, just because I like the way it looks without it.

My side rails DO look exactly like the ones in that pic. http://s258.photobucket.com/albums/hh270/HiD3F/Bike/?action=view&current=05-1... The mounting SOULD be the same. Alas, I cannot answer for sure. I can tell you that my bike (an 01 Savage) has the same design as that bike in the pic. Options are different but the bike is the same.

Should fit, and you can swap the helmet lock to the new ones.

Remove the lable off the back and you'll see the light.
