Help! Need Help replacing the front brake pads?

Hi Guys!

I replaced the factory original pads, worn pretty thin I might add, and bled the brake line. The brake lever is now pretty firm and stops about one inch from the bar. At a walking speed with no weight on the bike, applying the brake will dive the front. At anything over two miles with my butt in the saddle It will not stop. I obviously didn't get the pads back in correctly. Any ideas?
I don't have a manual and I am flying solo.

And I don't understand how you could dive the front end and not have braking with your but on it. Diving that easy tells me something wrong with the forks.

I will still have to bleed it again it seems a little mushy now And to think, You have allowed me to bring a little laughter to the whole country, and all I had to do was leap before I looked.
