Member John D was interested in seeing pics of a luggage lock/tripmeter, so here they are.
The first one has been on my bike for a couple of years, so it's a bit weathered. I used two zip ties to mount it to the right mirror stem.

This second one is new, and is mounted with double-sided mounting tape just over the highbeam switch on the bar. The lock bar has been snipped off with wire cutters to reduce dorkiness...

Three numbers, so ignore the tenths and set the numbers for mileage when you fill-up and refill at 100 miles....
Hunt locks like these down at dollar stores...

They don't. Whenever you fill up, just set the 3 (or 4 if it's a fancy lock Cheesy

) numbers to the last 3 numbers of the odometer, leaving out the 10ths. The speedometer keeps going up, and you subtract the number on the lock to figure miles travelled. Not a true trip odometer, but for the money spent, a very good mod for cheapskates like me! Grin
