question on fwd controls
04/24/09 at 07:33:01
I am on the verge of ordering a 4' set of fwd controls for my 08 S-40 but have one question for those of you who already have them.
Does the fact that the kickstand is moved forward (I would assume 4 inches) effect the balance of the bike while it is 'on' the stand? That is, does it remain as stable when parked as it was originally?
Other than that I can certainly see the advantage of moving the pegs/controls further forward.
Thanks....Jim

Yup, just takes a bit of getting used to just like the position of the pegs do too. Much more comfortable though, mostly cuz I'm 6'3" and have a 34-36" inseam

Ditto. Also, the kickstand is solid when it's all mounted and snug. However, when you loosen and remove some stuff around the right footpeg to do the remove the clutch cover and do some engine stuff, you might find the kickstand with a little less support until all is buttoned back up, depending on what you loosened and/or temporarily snugged back up. It's no biggie but just something to remember.
The stock pegs have a lot of rubber and airpsace on the top of the pegs. Mod or swap out the foot pegs for another inch of room if needed. It made a difference for me I guess becuase it's room gained down in addition to the FC's room gained outward.

Ditto, ditto, ditto.
I don't even notice anymore. The learning curve on forward controls is pretty short. The satisfaction and comfort last a looooooooong time.
