Regulator????
04/24/09 at 04:56:07

I've just registered the bike and put her on the road all legal like. I took the bike to work yesterday, then over to Cambridge, MA. All in all a round trip of about 60 miles. On the way home last night as I was slowing down for a red light the engine faltered and died. When I tried to start it there was not enough juice in the battery to turn the engine over, even though it was fully charged at the beginning of the day. I'm thinking "regulator", any thoughts?

What's the condition of the battery? Full on water, etc?

Battery is brand new and was fully charged before installation the previous day.

Do you a digital volt meter? easy enough to see if the charge'n system is flaky and if the battery is holding the proper charge in the first place

Thanks to all for suggestions. Problem found. I took a look under the seats to check the output from the Alternator and Regulator. Low and behold as I was testing I notice a connector sparking. Connection was corroded pretty bad so i bypassed it and spliced the two wires together. Check the voltage across the battery - 14.8 volts. Wicked Pissah!

I am having the same problem only i am bit closer to the solution, i found out that my alternator was toasted as my output to the regulator was 11.5 to 12 V at 5000 rpm, I replaced the coils and voltage regulator inside and today i will be wiring it up, does any body have a wiring diagram so that i donīt crappity smack things up?
