Help! Bike was running fine, now wont turn on...
04/14/09 at 13:30:40

I had the bike riding aroud fine just the other day before putting it away. I went to start it yesterday and i got nothing. No lights are turning on or anything. I thought the battery was dead so i recharged it and put it back in but I am still not getting anything. Im not sure if there is wiring i should be checking or what to do now.

Check the fuse under the right side of the seat?

And also look at wires going into headlight bucket.  They have a tendency to chaff there.

One trick is to wait till night time and put the bike into a darkened garage.  Bring a bunch of fuses.  When you connect the fuse, have a your buddy look for the spark from the chafed wire.

You turn on the headlight!!  Tongue
Oh .. wait.. that won't work, fuse is blown  Undecided Grin

On a more serious note.
I have never tried this, but it SHOULD work.  Put a 12 volt light bulb in place of the fuse.  (I would put it in series with a good fuse, just to be safe).  The light bulb will act as a current limiter, so the fuse won't blow right away.  The light bulb will light up.
Mess with the wires and connectors.  Disconnect stuff, move stuff, etc.
When the light bulb turns off, the short is no longer prsesent.
It helps if you have a wiring diagram while doing this.

Oh yeah.. and take the light bulb out of the circuit before you try to start the bike.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.
