For those that have opted to do the chain drive conversion, have you altered the speedometer meter gear reflecting the new gear ratio? Does anyone have photos of the inside of the meter gear box? I am guessing that fabricating the correct gear tooth pattern would not be too difficult.

chain conversion has so far required the addition of a bicycle type speedo with magnetic pick ups..
search the tech section for specifics..

the speedo drive is a worm gear, "fabbing" any gear is beyond most of us here.
And fooling around with the speedo gear ratio's may be interpeted as tampering with the odometer. Something I'd be real hesitant to do.

I am running a 17X52 chain which is a tiny bit lower than stock ratios.
When ever I find one of the radar trailers on the road that shows you your speed, I do a check. At 43MPH indicated, the trailer says 40 mph.
I just make a mental note of the difference.
T'werks good.

I havent done this conversion, a buddy of mine has. I dont know why anyone is hesitant to just put some dots for reference on their speedo cover. One for 45, one for 55, 65, an 75. Anything below 45 is going to me a marginal difference. I understand lots of peoples jaunt for mechanical precision and effectiveness, but this one just seems to be an added expense
To each his own. But my ratted up mess of a savage would look at me and say, "Are you kidding? Fix something else first before you head onto something as crazy as that!"
