Paint Repair Question
03/31/09 at 17:32:22

When I removed the brass plug over the idle mixture adjustment screw I chipped the bottom lip of the gas tank.

What's the right way to repair this? I don't know much about painting.

ColorRite wants me to buy primer, 2 colors, and a clear coat. (She's a white '07.)

Thanks.

If it's on the little lip surrounding the bottom of the tank I wuld just buy the touch up paint from colorite. They will charge you enough that it will feel like penance. If the chip is in the tank body above the lip touch up will work but the only way to make it really perfect is paint and clearcoat. Or you can live with it.

I couldn't get a decent picture of it. I'm more interested in protecting the metal than matching the paint. It's mostly on the inside of the lip anyway.
