And remember the "magic sh*t box" runs on smoke.....if the smoke leaks out....it doesn't work anymore.

Personally, I don't quite understand why people come up with "cutesy" names for stuff. Why not just use the real name?

Hmmm... how about this?

"In this approach, I have engineered a restraint system which repositions the smoke-operated Capacitive Discharge Ignition box to reside underneath the bottom of my seat, but above the frame vertices, thereby liberating the space between the posterior frame supports.  This provides a supplementary air space for my experiemental intake endeavors without detriment to the integrity of the electrical system."

Its not required I think. These silly japaneese bikes always have extra parts. Mostly for safety, like flashers, brake lights or button start or exhaust. We dont need no steenkin black box.
Cool.

Yo gang... Question on the sh*t box....

Since I am leaning towards a DJ type set up  (clean engine area) ...  what if I added a "oil container" and put the S... box in there?   Does this thing need ventilation for cooling.... it would protect from the elements.  I was thinking of also putting a dry cell battery in there too?

Any thoughts or has this been tried before?

Thanks,

Wolf  Cheesy

It's been thought of but not done (no pic's = not done)

Probably cause those tanks are expensive, I'd have to run accross the right tank in a junk yard for a buck or 2.  The right sized propane tank would do.

Depends on if you wanted the nice domed ends (if a round tank) or not.  Any metal shop could take ya a large dia. thin wall (say 6" .120 wall or thinner) pipe and slap some ends on it, should be pretty cheap.  Or hit the salvage and junk yards.  As DiamondJim mentioned, truck stops got all the cool bling you could ever want.  Farm implement scrap yards would give ya all kinda unique reservoirs too.

Wolf, you could try this idea.  Use a section of 4"-6" PVC pipe or black ABS pipe and mount some chromed covers on the end.  I've seen covers that would fit at truck specialty shops for about $4 each.  Add vent holes to the pipe and put the MSB in there.  You could also wrap the pipe with aluminum flashing to match better.

As for the battery hiding in there as well... just don't see it happening.  Although you could get something like this taller, narrower 60amp motorcycle batter and fit it in front of the rear fender between the frame.

It is a thought... Thanks for all the input.... this is probably going to be an ongoing type project... gotta massage the engine first and see where I go from there....

Thought it would look neat, tidy cool and dry....

Isn't that a 6 volt battery?

Probably so.  I did a quick search earlier and I think they listed it under the header of motorcycle batteries but I think I got the amp rating from a different model on that page.  Oops!
