Batteries Dry Cell
03/23/09 at 15:05:32

Dry Cell batteries have obvious advantages over the stock type batteries.  Anybody out there that has one and moved the battery to another location.  Basically, I am trying to clean up the look of the engine and bike in general - minimalize excess shtuff. I have seen bikes of various bikes and it just keeps it simple while looking knarly - hehe

Thanks, Wolf

I've got a Big Crank but it is in the original location.  Love the battery.  Didn't touch it all winter and it started the Savage a few weeks ago after a few cranks.  I know I should take better care but that battery is great.

"Dry Cell" as in flashlight batteries or do you mean Gel cells (which are a type of wet cell)???  Or.... do you mean sealed batteries ??? Sealed batteries are wet cells that recover fumes from charging so there is less evaporation.

The Dry-Cell's normally do not have the same "cranking" amperage as Wet Cell's.

BUT.... now a days they make some high tech ( and very expensive) dry cell's that come close to the cranking power of a wet cell.

I believe he's talking about the Big Crank, Optima Red/Yellow Top type battery.

I've got one, but it's in the stock location at the moment.

diamond jim on the boards here moved his into his right saddlebag. I'm contemplating a similar move, but I'm just not sure what I'm doing yet.
