I went into Sears to find a small 1/4" drive & metric socket kit  to carry on the bike. They had a 50% sale on.  Whoo Hoo. $55 got me a 71 pc tool set with 1/4 & 3/8 drive metric 4-15 & std sockets5/32 - 3/4 sockets, screw driver w/ the usual tor phillips slot and robertson tips, and metric/std allen keys.

This and some pliers should make for a decent on the road tool kit that isn't too expensive
