Lost Running Light and Turn Signal - Any Advice?
03/11/09 at 23:09:12

Hey everyone! My savage with no other noticeable electric problems, suddenly lost the rear right turn signal, and running light, after I replaced the front left turn signal.
I still have a brake light.
Any ideas on what could have happened?
The only two fuses I could find under the seat, both 20amp, were intact and functioning.
Is there any combination of wires I might have crossed that could have caused damage to these other lights?
Just stuck up a creek when it comes to wiring problems.
Any help, like always, is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Luke.

there's a couple of bullet connectors under the pillion in front of the rectifier.  check if you've pulled them out.

maybe it is too soon to ask, but, can I just wire my rear turn signal to my front turn signal? and my running light to something else that has accessory power, like the headlight?
or is this a bad option?
Thanks,
-Luke.

did you check the bulbs?

Running lights all over or just rear?

Replaced front signal as in the whole signal assembly or just the bulb?

If whole assembly, check if you reversed the wires.

While you're at it, check for shorts in the headlight area, known place for problems.

the only rear running lite on stock is in the tail lite..brown i think at the
connector just up from the rectifer..probally the bulb...
whaat year is your ride suz changed the back harness a lil over the years..
start with the bulbs
all the back lites share the same common(neg) where it becoms common is a different spot for different years
BTW is your tag lite working??

this is my buddies bike and he doesnt have regular internet access so i'll chime in a bit having seen it. Theres no plate light. The PO installed an aftermarket brake light under the fender. The wiring is pretty hacked up. The PO made an effort to minimize wiring and didnt bother color coding his reroutes and extensions. Its possible he may have mixed up the wiring wen installing the new assembly though. Seems unlikely but maybe.

OK
as you go back down the fender(to the front) where was the splice made(above or below the rectifer) and what year is the bike...
