New Pics of My Savage
02/21/09 at 20:35:15

Well, been a while coming, but I've finished painting (again).  I'm happy with the results, and so's my wife.  She's even hinting that she may ride with me.  So, what do you think?

Things left to do:
  •  Exhaust pipe (was thinking of something like Diamond Jim's straight pipe)
  •  Chrome trim on the rear fender.  The paint chips easy on the end of the fender.
  •  Rebuild a seat from another pan I have, lower, firmer, better feeling.
  •  Saddlebags.  Maybe hard ones.  Not sure yet.  Maybe a batwing faring to make it a bagger look.

Pretty nice looking ride! I wondered what a Savage would look like with full blown fenders... and now I know! Smiley

I've seen a lot of cable clamps and a few front brake mods but your setup is a new one for me.  Grin

I don't like most turn signals out there but yours is one of the best I've seen on a Savage.  The black shocks are a sweet touch.  Very nice job.  I can tell that's a lot of work you've done.  Gary, your attention to detail is superb.

Nice.  like dem bars.

Why the color on the rear hub but no where else?

I'd turn the exhaust down so it don't fill up with water.

Sweet ride, good to see something a little different being done. It shows just how versatile this bike really is.

Maybe a fishtail style pipe would work well with that style ?

Yeah.  I like my cable clamp as well  Grin   Attention to detail...me?  You should see my brother.  Have to admit, it's taken me a full year to get this bike to where it is...and maybe another year to finish it... (I'm so slow...rather be riding)

I like the bars too! Got them from someone off this site with a side car (I want to say drharvey? but don't quote me because I can't find them PMs).  Their off a HD Dyna.

The rear hub came that way when I bought it.  I like it.  Need to do something on the spokes and front hub, they look terrible.  Very hard to polish them to a shine, unlike the other parts I've polished.

Water?  What's that?  I live in Central Cal.  (Oh, it did rain a few days the last 2 months).

Yes, I know.  Water from the exhaust.  I was just looking at that today when I was taking pictures thinking that pipe is turned up to much.  I had to replace the Samson pipes on my Honda Shadow (broke near the head--unweldable) and I'm trying to to figure out how I can use the heat shield.  It would be to die for if I can do it!

Very nice - hard bags would look cool on your bike.  Corbin makes a batwing fairing that fits a sportster - might fit a Savage.

Very nice!!! Smiley Smiley

I was just thinking.... handlebars are HD, seat is HD, floorboards are HD, turn signals are made for HD, rear light is made for an HD, looking at getting a made for HD headlight, really want HD style bags and faring...

OMG!  It's becoming a HD!   Grin

Do you think they'll let me in their club?  I've already been asked by 2 guys what year Harley it is?  1930ish?  All I have to do is grind down the "Suzuki" name in the engine case.... NAAAHHHH!  I'll stay with being a SAVAGE and not a HOG!    Cool

CORBIN!  They want too much cha-ching!  I've been looking for used on ebay, but they want too much.  But I found this one that Arlen Ness (Bob Dron) makes for around $260 and looks SWEET!  http://www.arlenness.com/p-972-bob-dron-fairing-kit.aspx

I know your wife likes to ride with you sometimes but a solo springer seat would look killer on your bike.  Check with flcruzr about his hard bags. They are the best hard bags/install I've seen on a Savage.

You live where it never rains, and have the only Savage that doesn't throw water all over your legs when it rains....

Relocating your brake caliper to dangle in mid air, really cleans up the front wheel....

I like the signals too.... I have them as running/brake lights on mine..

nice work,..

Very nice Gary. I love the look.

With the FireLizard With all of it's HD parts, I tell people it's a Harluki. Looks of a Harley, heart of a Savage.  Wink

those floorboards look comfy.  I think I'll wait until I lay it down on the original pegs first.
