I put them on my M50 maybe two years ago.  They share the same throttle sleeve as our bikes.  After examining and test fitting the grips I saw I had two options- 1) sand/grind down the ribs some to get them to fit, or 2)  sand/grind down the ribs completely and some of the collar to get them to fit they way they should.  It made me mad about how much work I had to do to get a really nice, clean install that I expect after paying double what most grips cost. To me, quality is in the details so I went with option 2.  I didn't need glue for the grip on the throttle sleeve.  Actually, I was going to use glue but after doing a final fit to ensure it was just right, the grip was on so tight that I couldn't get it off to in order to apply glue.  So I left it like that.  It squeezed the throttle sleeve some and I noticed a little bit of drag when turning the throttle.  I took off the whole throttle control assembly off, inspected the bar and found a couple spots of some residual glue on the bar that was causing the dragging.  A little sandpaper and some WD40 fixed it and it all worked fine.      

Sure thing.  I hope all goes well. Post some pics when done.  It seems that not as many S40/Savage owners go with aftermarket grips as do owners of other cruisers do.  For a lot of other bikes a grip change almost seems standard protocol.  At least it's not as frequently talked about on this message board as other boards for other cruisers like the M50/C50, Vulcan, V-Star, etc.    

I saw 4" of snow once in my life.  One inch a few times and throw in a couple of ice storms for good measure.  I've never seen a snowman with any section bigger than a bowling ball.  That's pretty much all I know about the white stuff.  I lived in central NJ as a toddler so maybe I saw some real snow then.   I went back there about every year til I was 20 but always in the summer.
