Mounted my Highway Pegs
02/15/09 at 11:05:47

Already had the crash bar mounted to the bike. I purchased a Chrome Bar with foot pegs off Ebay for $10. I used ( 2 ) 3 '' L brackets, one end mounted to the upper crash bar mount and the highway bar mounted to the other end.

Works perfect. Pegs fold up outta the way and its just the right height and length. Now I can extend my legs up and out a bit. Should be a little more comfortable on the longer cruses.  Smiley

I added the Wingerline highway bars this winter. I can't wait for a chance to ride with them!

Are those fairly stout?  I've heard the factory Suzuki case "guards" aren't really that solid. Undecided  Eventually I want something to mount some highway pegs too, but would like it to be stout enough to do some good if worse came to worst and it got laid down.

Yeah, I think they seem pretty sturdy. And for me (5'6") they'll act as my highway pegs too.

Ron - I was thinking this too... Why not mount the pegs right on the engine guard?

You are correct. I've been testing them since I posted earlier. The L brackets are a bit flimsy and will not hold up. I'm going to install an 1/8 '' thick piece of angle iron for the final piece. I can get a piece cut at work. A 3'' X 3'' piece will work.

Code:
Why not mount the pegs right on the engine guard?

Tried working out how to do that, but I wanted the pegs a little more forward. Where the bracket places them now is perfect.

This is a work in progress since the bike is still in the house, and riding season here in Ohio is a ways off yet. I hate Winter... Angry

I'd use equally sized piece of metal to mount the bar or have another strap going to the lower side.

you could get some off-set mounts and mount them right to the highwy bar and still have plenty of leg room

A little pricey, but well worth it for the comfort. Also it actually gives the poor little engine cage guard a useful purpose!

Thanks Jay, I've spent the winter doing alot of Mods and I thought I'd post pics of them all at once. But here's a pic taken this weekend.

Al,
Which Kuryakyn pegs are those, any model or info would be helpful. THOSE are just the thing for those long rides.
