What is the best oil you can use to keep going forever? Thats what I would like to know? Much has changed in oils since the savage was first made. Would the new oils keep the beast running well into old age? This is the only bike I am going to have and I want it to be around and running as long as I Smiley am.

My preference would be syn, 40wt. in the winter, 50wt in the summer.

Recently been convinced Rotella syn 5-40 is the best bang for the buck.

Now if buck is no object, then m/c specific Mobil1, Amsoil or whatever.

I've always heard whale oil is preemo, wonder if it comes in 50wt.?

As far as filters go, if you're changing out the oil every 1k, then it's almost useless.  Put in a supermagnet alla OF.

I like motorcycles.
I also like small airplanes.
Last summer my two loves combined - and I started using Aeroshell 15-50 in my motorcycles.
The rational for this has mostly to do with air cooled engines that the two machines have in common.
At Sturgis it was blistering hot - but the oil in my bike did not show any sign of breaking down even in the traffic jambs that formed late in the afternoon

So Aeroshell 15-50 is my oil of choice for the next few years
