new project

just in, 88 savage, 36mm mikuni, pod filter, stock can.
can someone tell me a jet size faster that it takes me to do a trial and error...

ive got a list of things to do and trying to save time, already got the oil leak, some dummy never sealed the head bolt cap thats under the head cover...

and btw if anyone wants a new tire be sure its stock size, or check it after installed, someone put a brig 14-90-15 on her and it was rubbing the inner fender bolts...
oh yea, and if you swap or ditch the vacum petcock dont just gut the thing, now i cant shut my fuel off at all, (ALL you have to do is turn it to prime!)

anyway guys, ive had a couple before, my fav was my 96.
this one if for a buddy thats learning to ride... so i dont need performance, but i would like to get it running better.
current is a 25 and 200 main jets,
it dont need the choke to start at 60F idles fine, but lugs when trying to rev or accelerate.
it also wont acel over maybe 4-5k rpm.
so generally it feels like a rebel 250 ATM...
thanks

if you know the best size for sure just email me matt@amclinepainting.com
stock engine, stock exuast, 36mm mikuni, and small pod filter.

are you talking about a 36mm VM Mikuni?  Round slide staight pull?  If so get ahold of Lancer.

As a starting point you might drop down to a #190 main jet and #22.5 pilot and see how the engine likes it.  If you want a set of jets for the process I can send you an assortment.
Jets are $3.50 ea; I can put together 3 mains and 2 pilots as a combo set for $15 including shipping to you and save a few bucks.
If you wish to do so PM me.   Paypal to Savage.S40@gmail.com

yea i have the round slide.

ok lancer  sound good, i wonly dropped it to 195 / 25 for now and ill try it but i am thinking its rich so i may still need to go to 190/22.5
i have a small assortment already, came with the bike.
i have to go installed the engine now and will give this set up a shot...

and i do have the stock carb but the airbox is trashed so ill keep this one on it. stock was the 40 mikuni, and it is a 650.
