Savage from Norway
01/22/09 at 02:01:53

Hey, i just bought this Savage for a small amount of money.
Its an -86, with 17500 miles on the road. Runs good, and in good condition  Smiley
But - i dont like how it looks now, so its getting bobbed in the next coming weeks. New rear fender, soloseat, new paint, custom exhaust, etc... And i need a new frontend, preferably an original one. This one got way to much rake in the trees. So if anyone has an original frontend for me for cheap, i would really like to buy it (have shipping adress in New Jersey, USA).
Or does anyone know if i can use an frontend of an Harley? I have lots of them....

Engine has a small leak between head and sylinder, but i guess its just a blown gasket?

I`ve actually been in my garage now and done some changes.
Changed the apes to a dragbar, one mirror only, new grips. Reversed the "homemade" pegs extensions, removed the fugly stickers on the tank, and the front fender.
Starting to look like another bike already  Cool
Looking forward to get another rear fender and seat on it.

and get rid of the back rest. That's ugly! Otherwise very clean looking bike for 86!

You wouldn't want to sell that front end when you get a new one would you?

Have fun with that thing man..keep us updated on your progress. Here's my before and after pix. Picked this thing up for $1000 with the same leak you described. Fixed that and rode it around for a couple months. Then dropped a valve so while rebuilding the motor I took the opportunity to do all this--

My guess would be pretty stinkin expensive haha. But for new rake kits and longer tubes I would have to pay $2,000+ anyway.

If you're willing to look into what shipping would be and if you don't want it I'm feeling that extra tall sissybar.

I can check shipping for the frontend - but i would need an original front before i can let it go.

I can check shipping for the Sissybar to, i dont need it. Its a cool looking sissy though..

Was experimenting with paint last night. Did a silver base on the tank and sidepanels, and topped it of with purple candy. Not finished yet, need more layers of clearcoat, and maybe some lettering on the tank etc.... I`ll post pics later.

I dont know the exact weight of the sissy, but it looks like shipping would cost somewhere around $80 to USA.
I`ll post a better pic of the sissy to, its very nice.,

Well I just happen to have a stock front end. Maybe we could do a little trade off. Do you know the measurements for the rake and overstock tube lengths on your front end?

It might be a way to do it. I`ll have to do some measurements though, i dont know exactly how long and what the rake is.
