Sissy Bar Question
01/16/09 at 13:59:39
Hello all. I removed my sissy bar and backrest, and I was wondering if there are some type of chrome inserts or something of that nature (besides the mini sisssy bars and backrest) to put into the sissy bar brackets?

Why not find an S40 rider who wants a sissybar and swap siderails with him/her?

Nothing around that I've seen. Other bikes have a very small bracket/bar that connects the bars, it'd have no backrest, etc...
Or, as mentioned above... Find someone with an S40 that wants a sissybar and swap them. I've seen sets on EBay too.
Or... Just remove the bars entirely and fill in the holes. Someone on the board (I think Savage_Greg?) did and it looks sweet!

I also used caps but smaller so they fit inside real snug. They're from Home Depot. I can post a closeup pic later today if you want to see but the idea is just like the pic Gerry posted.

Not the best pic, I snapped a couple quick ones with my phone. Here's the smaller caps though (I'm still selling these rails and sissy bar if anyone is interested)-

I would say we could make a deal but when I was taking of the backrest I had a bolt break off in the hole and it's all buggered up so I don't think you would want it.
88pagan thanks for the pic that looks good

Just verified for anyone to save the trouble. The one I used is from home depot, 3/4" x 3/4" square plastic cap for metal. 4 pk is clearance $1.04 right now. I shaved down the nubs just a little bit till it was a nice snug fit.
