Has anyone on the Board bought the bolt kit being offered by "stainlesscycle" on eBay? Did you like it?

At $35, I'm thinking that is cheaper than all the hunting I would have to do on my own, but I know others have done this before me also.... If you have any wisdom to impart on doing it myself vs this kit, or if you have had dealings with "stainlesscycle" please share.

As always, thank you in adavnce to all who read and reply to my postings for help.

I bought a set and is due to arrive shortly.  He put the set together at my request.  It was $10 more than the last set I bought, but it also includes all of the head bolts.

Also take a look at their site, there's a univeral carb kit for $10.  80 bolts for $10, such a deal.

verslagen,

Let us know what you think of the quality of the bolts.  I'm interested in replacing my stock ones.

I went to the local Nut & Bolt store & bought some SS stuff & it wasnt too pricey. Asking someone to come up with the list of sizes & amounts to suit the Savage's needs is gonna drive the price up. Once they have the list made up tho, then all they have to do is gather them up. I bet you could save a few pennies, The time involved might cost more than the savings are worth, depends on the value of your time.

Make sure you put anti seize on the bolts.  SS bolts are great but over time if left without anti seize they will corrode the aluminum and could lock up if you don't.  That said I will still use them.

How is the never seize going to work with the vibrations that loosen everything up on the bike.  I have read to be sure to use locktite on everything.  I understand the point about corrosion, but if the bolts vibrate out (i have already lost one on the pully cover) whay good are the stainless?

I am not trying to be smart, just learn something.

Every bolt Ive removed is anti siezed, even the header bolts. I havent lost any. Get them tight, theyll stay, except for those blasted header bolts, they loosen up & require a snuggin once in a while. I have only replaced the carb bolts. All opthers are stock

Got the carb set in today (don't know why they sent in 2 packages, but I can guess)

Some are the same as I've gotten before, marked RDX on the head, good quality bolts haven't had any trouble with them.

Either put anti seize or a little motor oil.

Anti seize is a poor lubricant, mainly a corrosion inhibitor.

I tried to find the carb bolts in the store and could not. Did you have to ask for them specifically?

ok, finally opened the package and holly cow it's replacement bolts for everything.  Shocked

clutch, stator, pulley, gear shift, oil filter, head cover, valve inspection, cylinder, and starter.  All in sepparate labeled bags.  Smiley

Now the last set I bought only covered the clutch and stator.  So this is quite a set.  And they're all good quality bolts that I've used before.  Grin

I may need another set.  Cool

verslagen1, you said "got the carb set in today" but looking at your description and the current auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270334042899&fr... ,

I don't see the carb screws and bolts listed.  I'd like to replace the carb fasteners too - allen heads recommended I think.

Counting bolts? you gotta be nuts.   Grin

Carb screws weren't included in the kit.  Why?  idk every else is there.

Universal carb kit is on their web site.  I like have a few extra screws for replacing everything else.

If he offered a bolt set covering just the head cover, I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat!

I just don't log enough miles on my Savage to justify all of the other bolts.

Sigh!
