i do park mine outside and when rain is expected i slip a sandwich bag over the filter, i dont generally ride in the rain but the couple times it rained while i was out i didnt have any performance issues, i think because my leg sits over the top. riding with no front fender is like a garden hose spraying in your face at full blast.....sucks, lol

I bet! Grin  Mine's pretty much all stock (for now) and now that I've got a little bit of rain gear, it's kinda fun to ride in the rain.  Of course I haven't been out in a downpour yet either! Shocked

Fun? Singing in the rain, yes,  Cheesy riding in the rain, not so much.  Undecided

Here's the air filter mod I'm working on.  I'm gonna get a different air filter for this setup but I put my cone filter on so I could ride this afternoon. I grabbed my camera when I got back and snapped these pics real quick but tomorrow I'll take close up pics.

The filter looks funny like this cause it's so small.

It doesn't stick out much.  I'll probably go with an oval air filter setup.

I still can't get over how sweet Diamond Jim's seat and tail light set up is.
I wish he had step by step pics of that posted.

Very nice DJ. Your work always amazes me!

I'd like to know where the battery went too. Smiley

Oh yeah.  I forgot about that.  I made a compartment in the right saddle bag for the battery.  I had to make new wires for it.  The positive wire is about 4" longer and the ground wire is about 12" longer.  It takes up about 1/3 of the saddlebag space on that side.  I use the left bag more than the right one so it worked out great.

Thanks.  I think modding the rear gives the bike a whole different look and attitude.  I've posted several things about mods to the seat, rear fender clean up, rear fender lowering and lighting/tag setup.  Later I'll find them for you Jay and PM you the links to the posts.

I would've guessed that it was in the bag. Smiley Nice spot.

A lot of DJ's info is in this thread: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1233000795

He talks about his seat mod, the fender lowering, and the tail light in that.

Wow Jim, that looks great! What kind of tubing did you use to route the air filter from the carb?

That seat does look awesome. Good job.

I don't know if you guys saw this on one of the other post but check out the air filter and intake. It is pretty cool.

DJ your bike just gets better. Did you have to rejet the carb when you changed the exhaust and air filter?

Mowhawk, I love that setup in that pic.

It's made from PVC with some trimming.  I've got it setup up to run a filter on either side or both sides.  I like the both sides look.  I don't like the way it looks in the pic cause the filter looks so puny compared to the open space.

I'd love to do a pair of these with one on each side:

But that ain't gonna happen.

One thing I was wondering about that last link I posted, It looks like it is right in the way of where your leg would go.
