Once i get doing it, I will prob leave the peacock on and just disconnect all the tubes. I had trouble disconnecting the vacuum line to the carb so I will have to figure that out.

So what what is under the tank in the front that keeps it from bagging around? Just alot of rubber mount type things? I am surprised the only screws are by the seat.

the tank has slots on the underside that slide onto a pair of rubber donuts that fit onto the frame

Those automotive clamps will work alright too... But they're harder to hide behind the little heat shield, and can look ugly. The Harley clamp is good.

What Max was saying about the "carriage bolt" to mount the Dyna muff... Most of those mufflers have a "slotted mount."  The smooth round head of the carriage bolt holds up in the slot, and the rectangular (square) bit underneath fits into the "slot" to keep the bolt from turning when you put a nut on the other end; which is sticking through the hanger bracket.  Adequate description?  Wink

I am going to try to use the C-clamp because A) I have one already and B) it's easier to get.

About the bolt, I am sorry, I knew what he meant, I really meant if he knew the specs of the bolt so I could buy one. Or is there one on the bike I can "borrow" from another place and not effect anything in a negative manner?

OK New line of questioning   Grin

btw, I got the exhaust on with the C-clamp and there was NO problem and you cant see the clamp behind the heat shield and it was easy to get the heat shield on.  Being I did the re-jetting too it took awile for the bike to start and I also think my batt didn't have the best of charges.

Questions:
It was running REAL shiatty for awhile until I mess around with the mix screw. Then I got it so that it ran but I was shotting flames out the tail pipe (running too rich). haha...it was cool to see but I dont want that. So I leaned it out a bit. Now it pops but no to little flame. I think it's more gases then anything.

Can if I screw the idle screw ALL the way in, that is what? VERY rich, right? I would like to use that as a starting point. So at that point, (about) how many times should I turn it counter clockwise till I should start getting to the sweet point? Can also screw that screw all the way out? If so, is it a dangerous thing like I gotta watch out for a spring to shoot out and hit me in the eye?

Anyone with a Dyna, do you "pop" even being tuned correctly?

Get that mix screw out too far & the spring tension wont be sufficient to keep vibration from turning the screw. Amazingly, Ive never heard of one tightening, so they fall out.
In leans it, out is rich.

so I am running very lean then.

That would cause fire to shoot out the muffler?

So I can put it in all the way but it does come out, right?

Be very gentle screwing it in. The needle can seat up tight on ya & mess things up. Fingertips on a skinny little screwdriver & go slow.
In is lean. If ytou are lean now, Id lean toward turning out.But dont lean on my knowledge.Wait & see what the real mechanics say.

thanks for that little heads up.

I was using a small screw driver but when I was blowing fire, I was turning it quickly in. Not like a mad man, but I will deff more gentle with it.

So beautifully put, and I thought I was the only one  Grin

Got the hang of it finally, I don't remove the petc0ck,
just do it carefully at an angle. That Plug-door mod is
a lifesaver!

Good luck w/all.
