From Bike Bandit:

Front 100/90-19 $66, rear 140/90-15 $86.53

From Dennis Kirk:

Front 100/90-19 $55.99, rear 140/90-15 $72.99

That 38% off is from MSRP, as in "no one pays retail!"

I should've known you guys would find a cheaper price...

The prices seemed good from this side of the border  Tongue

In the past due to UPS shipping options (exhorbitant brokerage fees) I never visited denniskirk.com... DK would be >$50 more expensive for me than BikeBandit... but now I see that they have a Canada Post shipping option...

Huh  Bike Bandit ships to me from San Diego, California.  Nearly next door for me but a bit of a haul to Ontario (Canada, not California.)  Are there any Canadian based motorcycle webstores?

Don't forget shipping, think it something like $30 for tires.

Might as well walk into your local stealership wheel under arm and say 'gimme tire'

If fact the local dealer had d404's for the internet price.

I've found a couple but they do not offer nearly the selection nor the prices that the American sites do.

Parts Canada (the main distributor up here) seems to dictate the price and selection available for parts/tires. A local mechanic offers a discount off of the Parts Canada price which is nice (it varies, but 25-40% off). Local dealerships aren't usually as nice...

So I bought my tires from Dennis Kirk and am having a problem finding a dealership that is willing to put tires on a bike that where bought online. I ask one and he told be its like brining my own food to a restraunt. So if there is any one in the Virginia Beach Area Willing to help me get some tires on my bike I would be more than willing to pay them. I just dont understand why it should cost $60 to have one tire installed that you bought some where else on a motorcycle but on a car I used to pay $15. Any Ideas would be great
thanks

A really nice set of tire irons costs $30.  Even a crip old man like me can still mount his own tires ....

I think one of these is on my hit list.

http://www.nomartirechanger.com/product/show/6

drop an old tire on the ground, the wheel to be changed on top of it, either a bar or the axle down the center to be a pivot and one of these bars... and you got a shade tree tire changing machine.

if nothing else go check out their videos in the 'tips and techniques'

I have a NoMar Mount/Demount bar. It works well, but the biggest problem is getting the rim to remain stationary.

FWIW I was working with tubeless tires on my CBR125R. I used the bar in conjunction with a tire mount apparatus, similar to the one from Harbour Freight. Breaking the bead and removing the tire from the rim was quite easy  Smiley  Mounting the new rubber was the difficult part. The rim just wants to rotate, I watched the NoMar videos and ended up keeping the rim stationary with my hands and using my hips to rotate the bar. It worked like a charm and now I know for next time  Cheesy

BTW, this was my first motorcycle tire mount/demount attempt  Cool

my dealership has started the same tire policy, and used the same expample.  which is like comparing apples and oranges.

i say so i ride in on my big v twin that i bought somewhere eles and you wouldnt work on it, because i didn't buy the bike there, well yeah we would.

I then ask isn't that what a SERVICE department is.  provide service for payment. uh   yeah.  well what's the difference where i get the part then.
owner has been listening to conversation, i say i bought the bike here and i expect service here, where ever i get the needed part from. btw always remove wheel from bike to take to shop to change it costs alot less as you do all tghe work.

thank goodness max lives near by.  now that guy he can bust a rear like you wouldnt believe,   i  an do a front  but not a rear.

heh.  When I got my Metzelers I was able to do the rear, but had to get help on the front.  AND the idiot went and mounted it wrong.  There's a paint dot on the tire where it is lightest, you put it where the valve stem is.  They didn't.  Had to add far too much weight to ballance.

Next time I don't care how much trouble it is, I'm doing it myself.  I don't pay people to screw up -- I can do that myself for free!
