So got a problem..go to start the bike and it just clicks. Where's the best place to order a new starter for this bike? Haven't owned it long, don't think the previous owners took good care of it.

Ohhh, you can order that new starter in lots of places, but when you get it, I bet it'll just click. I bet you have a lousy battery or need to clean the connections,Might be a good time to try the charger, but I'd check the water level first. Look on the battery box, thers a slot & you can see the side of the battery a little. See if you can see the water level. Id be getting the tools out.

Not a lousy battery. It's brand new, been on the trickle since I started working on the bike, water level's fine too.

Check ground connections and possible frayed wires.

Ive seen brand new be bad, rare, but it can happen. After you hit the starter for a bit, touch connections & IF you find a hot one, it is resistive, Loose or dirty, Or, I guess its possible the solenoid is not real healthy. Have you tried jumping the solenoid?

Hey, what IF hes coming up on TDC & the decomp isnt working?

My battery is almost three years old and the decomp wasn't working when I tore the FireLizard down. And even with the performance cam from Lancer, the FireLizard would turn over and fire right up with no problem.

No volt meter, looks like a trip to Harbor Freight is in order. Haven't seen any ground issues or frayed wires yet, but in the process of stripping the bike.

Check the starter solenoid. That's been the problem on two of my bikes that just 'clicked'. I tested it by jumping it; took a small screw driver and touched both nods with it. That bypasses the solenoid. If it turns over, you know what the problem is.

A way to check the starter that I've used is to use a jumper cable (or decent cables with alligator clips, etc.) from the hot/red lead of the battery right to the nut on the starter. Just touch it; again, if it turns over, then your starter is fine. IMO, check the solenoid bypass trick.
