Hi I am planing on getting rid of the air box  and fitting  a cone filter and shifting the battry back, I will be welding in a small platfrom where the air box was to take the battry and some lugs to fit the side panels on to hide the battry in its new  home, would welding on the frame dammage any of the electric bits , what I am worried about is the alternator or stator incase the power surges through, most bits I can disconnect

I've had it go both ways. The electronics are most suseptable to damage. CDI - regulator and that type thing. I have fried things. It's best to remove these before welding. Anyone need a fried big dollar sterio with flip out screen? Yep, its from welding in the car. Then on a pickup truck I was welding right next to the radio on the dash. That one was undamaged. You never know.

Oxyacetylene welding uses nothing electrical and cannot cause electrical problems. You just have to watch that the heat doesn't cause any damage to nearby stuff.
