Fastest Savage I know of bumps into limiter at 5th @ 164kph. Exhaust, 40 mm flatslide Mikuni, exhaust port work, airbox removed, lambda sensor plus non top speed related modifications.

A lambda sensor on a Savage?  With a carb?  Is he just using it with a data logger to record exhaust levels?

164kph/102mph is quite believable with those mods- is that measured true speed, or indicated?
That aside, do you know what he's done with his clutch to take the power from those mods?

He ran a a/f meter for a while to sort out the fuelling. He said there was no way to get decent fuelling with the airbox so he removed it. 164 kph is either with well calibrated Sigma or GPS. It bumps into the hard limiter, shows rich (no spark) until 158 kph when it fires up again. I need to contact him about the clutch but I don't think there's anything out of ordinary there, stock components I suppose.

I have an 05 S40 with a 155 main jet, airbox door removed, k & n drop in filter.  I weigh about 215 or so.  On the flat in Arizona whether it be 100 degrees or 60 degrees, I can consistently do 95 and if I have a decent length flat can get up to about 100 or so within a mile and a half.

I have had a friend in a car drive behind me and verify the speed was accurate.  When my bike was stock, it did 85 mph before it stopped but had half throttle or so left.  I think I just got lucky with a bike that has more power as they are all a little different when built.

I am sure glad that with my mods I can get to 95 or so because some people on here have the same mods and more and can't get there.  I do not understand why that would be?

I have the same mods as you, I weigh 140 lbs.top speed 85.
I think your friends car is off as well your bike, unless you have a chain drive conversion, there is no way a Savage will do a 100.

With proper gearing and mods a John Deere riding lawnmower can do 100 mph eventually  Wink

No doubt a Savage could be modded to get there.  I'd think that a stock bike will surely top out around 85-90 mph. Seems like there could be two different threads here:

1) Best way to mod a Savage to run 100 mph
2) Top speed for a 170 lb rider on a stock savage at sea level on a flat road.

The fastest I ever cared to go was 80.  (70mph speed limit in W.Va, so I was not far over the limit).

At that speed the bike is pretty much maxed out.  If the vibrations don't get you, the screaming of the engine will......

Thats good, but you are a master tweeker, the guy claiming a 100 has an almost stock bike , jets KnN air filter,no mention of any exhaust mods.
88 is still not a Ton

I've got a 1999 Savage and I've gotten mine to 90 and decided that was the fastest I wanted to go...

Recently I added a windshield and now my top speed on the bike is 80.

That's odd, a windshield usualy improves top speed,if it's put on right,
less wind resistance going over a smooth wind shield than all the nooks and crannies of the human form.

Unless you're scrunched down, in which case you'll be getting less wind drag.  My 100cc '67 TwinJet hit 65mph on the Davidson Freeway.
