I have gotten to 80mph but that is because that is as fast as I wanted to go. If I wanted to ride fast, I would have gotten a monkey on a football bike (aka crotchrocket)

With a jardene muffler, 150 main jet, 85mph,
I ran a tank of drag fuel through it once 110 octain ,better acceleration, but still the same top speed,  85mph.
There are some here that claim 100 mph, I think they have speedometer problems.

The Harbor Freeway runs at about 85 mph when the traffic is light.  MAC muffler, carb may or may not have been worked by P.O., I was keeping up with traffic but the speedometer was blurry from the vibration.

I have done 85 on the Super Slab a few times, but that's about all she got, stock. It's quite frightening actually, but invigurating at the same time. Quite a bit of vibration rendering the mirrors useless.

Why did I do it?
Because I could Grin

190lbs and 125kph wih throttle to to spare. 2088 stock.  This was passing on a 2 lane hiway. I would go faster if necessary when passing. The bike does 110kph comfotably which is just fine for me.
I have no need to be 1st at the crash site.

When I first got my bike, completely stock except for jardine muffler,
(read no backpressure and way to lean) 80 was top speed.

Now I have rejetted and added K&N filter and went to a dyna (some backpressure yet more open than stock).

On the freeway yesterday, I hit 80 quickly, had 40 percent throttle left-
I backed off because it felt like it was floating, fast enough for me.

I bet it would go high 80's like it is now, possibly 90 with a smaller rider. Also I know my speedo is off a little due to oversized tire.

With a K&N and a Dyna muffler No other mods you'll be running way lean.    Rejetting carb will ,working in concert with those two mods help your top speed.

I hit 94 once,... oversize rear tire, on a good day, slight downhill, 3 miles long, wind at my back, tucked in,... pee'd a little.....

I'm 145lbs,... and have done k/n filter, sporty muffler, and rejet...

I've tapped 85 mph once then eased back down. I had a little more throttle left to go but didn't do it.. Flat straight road and a stock 05 S-40 i'm 225lb

Yeah the mirrors are just a blurr what with all the vibration and 85 seems really fast when I almost outweigh what i'm driving. lol
