finally got my filter. turns out the one the store ordered was an oval filter not cone and it is not street legal but i am stuck with it because there is a no return policy on special orders. anyhow i installed it and because of clearance i now have to make some brackets for the battery but here it is. ill take a better picture tomorrow if anyone is interested.

that silver line is actually in the middle of the filter. it is much taller than it looks but it had to be turned sideways to fit in between the frame

I really liked the sound when I swapped for the cone filter, but the resulting re-jet of the carb and the new found throttle response combined to drop my fuel economy into the high 40's.

If I babied it, I could get back to 53-55mpg.

The only thing I did not like about the cone filter was the accompanying whistle while under throttle.  At certain throttle positions, the air would venturi whistle as it passed the butterfly valve.  It took some getting used to.  At least until I got a louder exhaust and couldn't hear it any more.

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.
