i just did this to my 98 savage, wich had original 2 piece with the front lift mod at 1.5".
the one piece i put on was from an 07. the front mount is the same as are the 2 10mm bolts on the sides . i haven't even bothered drilling through the fender because it has rubber stops that hit the fender at the back of the passenger seat and they provide enough friction that with my wife on the back it doesn't even move.
i found the one piece to be a "taller" seat so that my legs can stretch out a bit more. it's got more padding than the 2 piece, but i do miss the "gunslinger" feel that the old 2 piece gave.
i might just recover/reapolstrer  and put the 2 piece back on.

I put  a '06 one piece on my '01.  Very easy swap.     If, like me, you do not want to drill a hole in the rear fender for the "one-piece" rear mount, put a stick-on rubber bumper on the metal "tab" on the one-piece seat.

Note: a one piece is a little harder to get off because you have to clear the sissy bar.  I'm getting fairly good at it now.

Also note; the cut of the stock one piece gives you about an extra inch of room.   I didn't notice it until I switch back to the two piece for a day of riding.
