If you mean the frame cover, I didn't realize they were so expensive....$92.47 a pc on bikebandit. Found a set of blue ones on ebay for 35. I'll be selling mine if you'd like but it has been repainted black. Let me know

Probably put Progressives in it. Unless he weighs 300 pounds and rides over ditches, I doubt it will bottom out with those. I love the ones in mine.

We raised the forks in the yokes of my son's VX800 by one full inch when he Streetfightered it, and he has never bottomed it out since we put Progressives in. Handling improved exponentially, and it got rid of the "flop" on a bike with some serious rake from the factory. This mod turned a Sport-tourer into a bike that handles almost as well as a Ducati Monster 620 that we ride with, and that has better acceleration to boot.

Progressives in the forks are one of the best $100 mods that can be done to almost any bike in my book. Usually not good on raked choppers, though.

I aggree with the comments on Progressive fork springs. Good springs can make a huge difference. I have GS500 forks on the cafe above and they are known for being bad stock but great with Progressive springs. I can't wait to push these a bit and see what they do. I bought them used off a GS500E race bike and he had just a year before added Race Tech springs and Gold Valves in them so the front end should be pretty sweet especially after I finish my fork brace that will hold the front fender.

Sorry side covers were sold to BikerMom about 1-1/2 years ago and then she sold them when she parted her bike before moving.

Gold Valve Emulators are the most advanced gizmos you could add to a damper rod fork. Your bike's front end is as good as this kind of front suspension can be.

Exactly...so let's define my statement "build it the way I want it"....every thing you see was a rough build to get through the inspection to get a title for the frame. The frame is a 1968 Montgomery Wards Riverside Mojave frame. It was made by Benelli in Italy for MW. It is a great frame as it is a replica of a Rickman racing frame...just not chrome moly tubing.

Now once I have title in hand (should be 3 weeks and counting) I plan to
1. cut out the swing arm pivot plates and drop the pivot and engine 1"
2. mount my GS400 swing arm - 3" longer and stronger
3. new old style shocks
4. tail light was just for inspection. new tail lights are LEDs from an SV650 to be Frenched into the tail section
5. Seat will get a pad and custom cover -that will blend into tank.
6. battery goes under seat hump
7. ignition switch to hidden location
8. rims will be high shoulder Akront style off as mid 70's XS650
9. rear hub LS650 front hub GS750
10. front cafe style fender mounting to custom fork brace
11. speedo was just for inspection - new Trail Tech digital dash will drop into mid 60's honda head light bezel (look below speedo)
12. it has a flat slide Mikuni and will get a hot cam in the engine
13. tank will drop an inch when engine is dropped
14. switch to 520 chain and go gold side plates with Vortex aluminum sprockets
15. all switch gear from handlebars will be thrown out.
16. new 1 5/8" mild steel header ceramic coated black
17. polished stainless steel pea shooter style muffler (think Norton)
18. Braided SS front brake line
19. custom rear sets and brake/shift levers and pegs
20. paint engine core black with polished covers
21. De-tab frame and powder coat
22. Paint the bodywork and mirror polish the aluminum rims etc

Just a couple of things realy
Goal...... the cleanest most minimalistic cafe you have ever seen that from 25 ft looks like it dropped out of the 60's but built with modern componentry.

How does that sound????? Wink
