They DO offer a 140/90-15 tire, which will be a slightly taller tire than the OEM tire is. I don't think you would have had any rubbing problems if the tire you installed was a 140/80-15.

IRC lists the GS-18 140/80-15 tire as 24.09" tall and 5.03" wide on a 3" rim.
Tires of the same nominal size can vary considerably between manufacturers. The Dunlop, being .84" wider than the stock IRC, could possibly run on some bikes -- especially if not centered.
