I was out for a ride yesterday and realized that when I start from a standing position by rolling on the throttle and letting out the clutch shortly after the clutch is fully disengaged the rpm go do for a moment an then go up. The same thing happens if i let the clutch out fast and go on the throttle hard.
I tried to adjust it with the wheel and nut on the lever but that did not fix it. after my adjustment i also realized that when i am trying to accelerate fast ,like when going onto the freeway, that in fourth the engine rpm go way up before the it accelerates more.

I have about 14000 miles on this `05 S40 and it has enough oil. Is my clutch burning or wearing out or is it just an adjustment i need to make. Hope some of you can maybe lift my worries.

Same problem I was having on my '87. Whatever you do, do not take it to Ace Powersports in Kenosha, WI. The clutch worked ok when I got it back, but they screwed up other stuff and I haven't seen it since--3 months now.

I  think to drive not to make it slip is great advice i will follow.
I don1t think it has to do with my oil,
I  adjusted it so the lever took more effort to pull. that is how i prefer it    i might have left to little play and the clutch must be disengaging itself.
any other ideas what it might be.
What are the springs you are talking about drums 1 what could they have to do with it?

I think you might have the answer to my problem.
the distances you are taking about refer to the natural , unused position of the lever right.
How do I know the clutch is engaged is there any way to check that
