Hardly Keihin CV40 Carb ?

I keep reading on how crappy the stock carb is.
Well I have worked with Keihin CV carbs for many years and love them, why dont some of you try the Keihin CV40 carbs that are used on Harley Davidson's ? They are 40mm CV carbs but with an added benefit..... an accelerator pump.... they should be easy to rejet for the Savage and are real smooth and work great !
If I wasnt going to a 36mm Mikuni round slide for the old time look I sure would go with the Keihin CV....

Simply not acceptable
If you have such experience, it is your DUTY to try and set one up on a Savage/S-40..wasted riders may be ok (when not riding) but wasted expertise..no no no.

No it isn't.
I really think someone should try one of those HD Keihins. Wonder how expensive they are in eBay?

"The transient enrichment system is a device which keeps fuel/air mixture ratio constant in order not to generate
unstable combustion when the throttle grip is
returned
suddenly during high speed driving"
I stand corrected.

this is the same carb as on the 500cc buell blast, so there should be jetting that works. being a hd only item there are no online mircofiche available, you must depend on the hd dealer for a parts breakdown. for sure it uses a push/pull cable so new cables and throttle are called for. a fitting will be needed to attach the carb to the stock airfilter. does the spigot fit the stock savage? it is unknown till someone measures one or tries to fit it on the intake manifold.

Keihins are on most all Kawasaki's and MANY other Jap bikes.... Hardly guys like to think they have American bikes but half of it is Jap manufactured.....
They have push pull but you can just hook up the pull as they do have a return spring...
E-bay has them for cheap most of the time....
I know the Keihins I had on my ZRX was very smooth and easy to tune...
