Hello all. I bought a savage (2004) last sun and I got to drive it for the 1st time to today . I dont have tags on it yet so it was driven illegally, but I was around the block. I only did it cause in order for me to title and register it, the DMV wants me to drive it there to inspect it 1st and I get special permission when I go down there, but I also never driven a bike before so before hitting heavy roads, I took the risk and if I was to be pulled over, I am sure the cop would of been cool with it....None-the-less!

I love the bike. It feels great and it really does go when you need it too!

1st question, can you adjust the kick stand? I sort feel like it goes over too far. Can you burn the clutch? I dunno if it works the same way as a car does cause I know you can burn it a bit if you hold it down for long periods of time or womp on it. But today while driving, there was a large hill in the area and I found myself keep the clutch in going down hill so I wasn't in gear and it wouldnt pull and not having to use 5th gear. I realized I could be burning it, so I just kicked it into neutral.

Also, last thing, is there ANY specials that anyone knows about going on right now in regards to saddlebags(which btw, which ones fit the best?), highway pegs, and helmets?

when parking turn wheel to left before you set the bike on the stand there is less chance of it falling over.

since your new i'll be nice,  you drive a car, you ride a motorcycle.

i post this pic again only to show  that the side stand will support the bike and extra weight.
i wouldn't worry so much about burning the clutch it's pretty hard to do.

He means what he said  you RIDE a bike and DRIVE a car.
Before going  to the DMV take the riders course at your local collage,or school,after you complete the course you get a temparary licence,RIDE your bike to the DMV give them your temp and they will issue an endorcment,thats it,no more testing.
PS, the school supples the bike ,even a helmet,you will need gloves and boots, good luck and welcome.

I already have my temp license. I am also going the coarse route, however they are all filled up and I've been trying to get to one via "walk on" but haven't had luck. Im still trying.

yea, I saw that. I actually already have two pairs of brakes that were sold to me with the bike. Is that a good price on the saddle bags though?
