Looking for info on part
09/27/08 at 14:02:17
I dont know how it happened but i'm missing two screws on my bike. They're completely gone and I need to replace them. I'd buy them from a Suzuki parts store but every store wants at least $8 for two screws. I'll just go to Lowes and pick up the screws if I only knew what size they were. Any one know the size and pitch of these two screws? (circled in red)

Got some.... tried it.... Looks like it should fit but I tried for a good 10 min. It must be a different size.

What year is your bike? Is the M6 screw too small? Did you get a good look at the threads on the bike? Perhaps the reason it fell out is that a prior owner stripped or cross threaded it. I pulled mine off an 06 and then confirmed it with a metric thread gauge and with my M6 x 1.0 die.
I can't imagine that Suzuki changed a minor part like that from earlier models, but maybe?? Sorry it did not work out. If it is stripped you'll need to either find a metric tap & die set and go up a bit on the diameter, or maybe you can get a bolt, nut & washer on it and snug it up.

Good point , Justin.
It's the exact same screw as the one that holds the side covers on. Remove the one from the top of your tool side cover and try it in the missing spot. If it does not work you're screwed. Or maybe if it works you're screwed. Depends on your perspective.

That is funny - I have two allen-heads there from PO so they must have fallen out on him/her too. Great picture. Lucky to not lose the latch and tool cover.
