(This is a new post I started at the recommendation of T Mack 1. I asked this ? on another post.)
Okay, I've read the Carb 101, Carb Primer, Carb Specs and have perused the forum for carb tuning info.
Prior to this point I had:
- removed the white spacer
- did the brass plug/idle mixture thing
- It idled and ran fine with backfiring after about 3 seconds of hard decel from higher engine rpm
I've since taken the bike apart to do some good modding. Among these mods are:
- installed sportster muffler
- changed to a pod filter
Sitting in my lap at this very moment is the Jetset pack. I've read on here were some have changed the main jet but left the stock pilot jet. Others have changed both. I see all 3 of the main jet sizes being used. I've seen some on here with the white spacer removed and some with usually 2 washers in it's place. I see a myriad of possible configurations. I didn't see a good, solid beginning setup recommendation.
What is a good starting point to start tuning the carb?
I'm thinking new pilot jet, 152.5 main jet and leave it with no spacer. Somebody tell me if this a good middle ground to start tuning and look for a rich or lean condition or should I start with a different configuration?
