Can I re-install factory exhaust?

Help! I just bought a 95 savage and apparently the PO drilled and then removed the baffle from the muffler. (I do still have the baffle.) Is it possible to re-install it baffle? My state (MA) does an inspection that probably requires the original factory specs be met in terms of decibels and emissions. A replacement muffler seems to be really expensive. Would an aftermarket replacement solve the problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Reply #1 - 09/22/08 at 18:23:02 replacement muff to original spec will be hit or miss, most likely miss. pick up a used stock one from a junker or fleabay.
