Cutdown front forks ?

I plane on cutting down the front forks by about 2"
From what I can tell it will only take cutting the upper tube and having it re threaded on the inside and cutting the spring down a little.

What dia are the tubes and has anyone done this on this bike before ?

Couple of people here have lowered their forks by cutting the springs.  There are a couple of threads on the subject.
