4 inch z bars tilted forward. $40 bux got them off ebay, american cycle or classics was the seller. i like em but, i'm thinking about changing them for some 10 inch mini apes. as soon as i can find a set cheap enough.

Kryhavoc - how do you like those handlebars? I have the S40 straight bars and feel like I am reaching waaaaaaay out all the time.
Ride safe,
Amy
Hi Amy, I can't get used to the pull-back bars, I'd like the S-40 straight bars better, I think. I don't want to switch the risers, so I may go with an intermediate BMW type slightly lower bar. If I can find the right one. I prefer leaning slightly forwards instead of the vertical position I'm in now. I feel more in control that way.
I do admit the stock Savage bars put you in a pretty comfortable seating position for cruising. You may well like them.

I changed it to match the "look" of the bike.Had to change cables, and brake line.About a $200.00 venture.
I assume you had to extend the cables and brake line. That is an awesome mod!

Thanks Kryhavoc. We rode a total of 4 hours today, between the commute and an evening ride in the countryside...and my left shoulder socket is complaining. I think I will look around for the Savage-style bars on eBay.
I know what you mean - the straight bars do give a good feeling of control - but not at the price of this shoulder pain. It just doesn't seem like a natural position to hold for a long time. I even have very long arms and still this is not comfortable.
*good* This is an excuse to do a mod.
Ride safe,
Amy

For those that had to change out cables, what are the new cables that you used and where did you get them?

if you have drag bars, you can use the cables for a bike that came with buckhorn bars, if you don't go over ten inches. i think thats the max height, and you may have to re route them. if your intention is to go bigger, barnett makes custom cables, but theyre not cheap.
