Cam Chain ?
09/05/08 at 15:55:41

We all know about the horrors of a loose cam chain, but what about to tight?  Is that even possible?  A welder buddy of mine did the extra hole mod on the tensioner for me, but reassembly was tight.  I mean really tight.  The tensioner is all the way in.  And still pushing.  I think he might have put the second hole a little to far away from the first (made the mod to long). Huh

Don't wish to be scary, but consider your cam bearings (the ones that are cut raw into the head material) what are they doing under that one sided constant load ....

Don't remember.  I'm thinking I'll just pull the tensioner out later today and grind the hole a little.  I can measure it then.

18mm (.708") is the distance I'd recommend.

3/4 is too far, 5/8 is fine

I bet you got 3/4

I'm looking at 13/16ths.  (as close as I can tell).  So, yup, I'm too tight.  Bike is gonna be down for a few days, (see new thread) so I'll see if I can't get it sorted.  Thanks for the info verslagen.

Initial installation with verslavy or other mods: the tensioner should be 2 klicks ( of the ratched) out.
( from the recommendation of Norbert the German camchain guru) Tongue
