That is actually true about any exhaust. Back in '69 I had my VW shipped from Greece to New Orleans, picked it up to drive back to Warner Robins GA. One small problem, I had busted the muffler off my extractor exhaust. A bit loud. Got lost leaving New Orleans, ended up in a park, cop pulls me over, I shut off the engine.....
"License and registration please. Do you know why I pulled you over?"
{I'm running an open exhaust rattling windows in the next county. You think I'm stupid? Of course I know!} "No officer."
He then said something about running a stop sign which rocked me "Say what? What stop sign? Where?" Short story, he lets me go with a warning, goes back and sits in his car. Behind me. With my open exhaust pointed at him. He is waiting for me to leave. Start the car without giving it any gas. Idling. pop pop pop.... First gear, feather the clutch, 1/10 throttle, pop pop pop, shift to second, pop pop pop..... Yeah, you can be quiet if you try.
