Ok so heres my thoughts... I want a Kenda for a rear tire... they dont have 140 80 r15 ... so is there any reason that i cant use the 140 90 r15?    Now your thoughts on the matter? From what i understand my speedo should be off by 3mph... dunno though.. thanks for your thoughts an kind words..

That's what I have on mine.  Works fine.  I don't think the speedo is accurate to begin with.  That's why most cops will give you 7-10 mph before they'll write you up.

WSP and DOT have in internet posts stated only 3MPH over allowance since early spring of this year. I do understand they have been using that on the West side of the state pretty constantly. However on a trip over to drop off the sidecar earlier this week, I was only able to move with traffic in the HOV lane at 70+ indicated on my '04 Colorado, limit is posted at 60. Glad I only visit there as it is very tiring to be moving and concentrating that fast for this guy. In a fuel saving effort I tried running 65-67 on I-90 and that seemed not to be a problem. Midweek and traffic wasn't too heavy until North Bend. Semi's were running closer to the posted 60 than usual, must have been a "bear in the air" as they usually are pushing the 70 range except uphill. Max

Kenda's site list their tires, width x diameter:

K657 Challenger Sport Touring:
130/90H-15  :: 5.2 x 24.1
140/90H-15  :: 5.7 x 24.8
K671 Cruiser Sport:
130/90H-15  :: 5.3 x 24.0
K673 Kruz Cruiser Touring
140/90H-15  :: 5.7 x 24.88

For Comparison: (manufacturer's specs)
Metzeler ME880 Marathon:
140/80-15   ::  5.71 x 24.37
Dunlop D404
140/90-15  ::   5.85 x 24.73

The 140/90 Kenda's are nominally the same width as the 140/80 Metzeler and considerably narrower than the D404 that many have used with no problem.  Nearly a half inch taller (diameter - only a 1/4" less clearance) but if you rub you can just crank up the preload on the shocks or replace.

The 130/90's are slightly smaller, can carry the weight, and should be slightly more responsive in turns.

Using the Metzeler as base, speedometer error would be -2.09% to +1.52% -- about 1 mph at an indicated 60.
