Unscrew the cap on top of the carb, pull out the slide and you will see the cable attached to the inside bottom of the slide.  There should be a little plate sitting in the bottom of the slide which will fall out if you turn the slide upside down.  Now slide the end of the cable to the other end of the little slot and the cable will come out.  Then pull it out through the middle of the top of the carb cap.
