What are your helmet preferences?  Full face or open face?

I have an HJC open face/half helmet with add on face shield...I will be getting a full face for added protection.

someone has a picture that shows where the different %ages of ipacts are on helmets, faces, etc. The chin & cheeks show much impact. I use the HJC flipface. I Impact Tested one & walked away.

I use a full face, flip up style. This morning I was really glad I did. A pickup in front of me kicked up a couple rocks on my way to work this morning. One hit me in the shoulder (still hurts) the other hit the chin bar of the helmet.  Shocked I don't want to imagine what it would have felt like if I didn't have the full face helmet on.

FF - I don't like bugs, rocks, birds, etc impacting my face, the protection during a crash is kinda like a side benefit at this time - also its a theoretical benefit since I haven't crashed.

I have a 3/4 open face for summer and a flip-up modular for winter.

I could never find one helmet that met ALL of my needs ALL of the time so I broke down and bought 2.

I've got an HJC 3/4 with a flip up visor and Skid Lid.

There was nothing more comforting when I went down recently than seeing the gravel sliding by on the other side of the visor. I'm throwing the Skid Lid away.

Judging by damage to the back of the helmet, I'm sure it saved my life. I never lost consciousness nor even had a headache or anything.
