first dump...
08/10/08 at 19:30:35

Laid her down for the first time tonight. Stopped at a stop sign in the boonies and decided to scratch a certain itch when she fell over right under me. I tried to catch her, but was too late. To my surprise. she stopped softly right on the right foot peg like it was a kickstand. Not a scratch, did not even tear any rubber on the peg. Another pro to owning this fine piece of machinery.

I've done this three times - usally while adjusting something - never a scratch - worst thing, besides embarrasement, was once when it was falling, I grabbed by the mirror. The mirror came loose and I had to tighten it back up - darn!

"Dump" is usually like this "...going allong at about 40mph and started braking when I went over the paint at an intersection and the next thing ya know, I was sliding one way, and the bike was tumbling the other way..."

This is just a "drop" - it's what keeps the Ebay turn signal sellers and Gorilla Glue in business. A dump keeps emergency rooms in business.

More a tipover than a dump.  Like the time I hooked a  bungee cord on the rear of a rack and pulled it forward to fasten it.  Don't try that, especially if the bike is on a center stand...

Oh yeah, "I laid her down" is code for "I couldn't keep the bike upright in a panic stop"!

Yep, Sorry to hear, you had a drop - not a dump or a lay down (both imply forward speed). I'm glad everything seem OK. Check the peg and surrounding area very closely for hairline cracks. From what I hear it's a bummer to be going down the road and lose a footpeg. Not usually a concern for the Savage (vehicle weight), but still worth double and triple checking.

I can't figure out how the bike dropped with you sitting on it...unless of course, you were scratching your butt.   Questioning

Check peg for straitness. Might have to remove it, remove rubber and straighten in a vice. When on a hill or working on the bike i allways put it in 1st gear when on the side stand. Smiley

If you were using both hands are you sure you were "scratching?"  Embarrassed
